Field Investigator

Position Summary:

The field investigator will be responsible for obtaining statements, conducting scene investigations and presenting evidence to physicians relative to insurance claims (workers’ compensation, P&C and general liability). The field investigator will conduct investigations relative to aoe/coe, witness statements, subrogation, property loss/theft, auto loss/theft, preserve scenes and equipment if necessary, take pictures or videos, canvass areas, obtain documentation, process serve, obtain records and follow up on any leads that may assist the claim. This position involves attention to detail, quick thinking, driving, note-taking, detailed report writing, time management and a high level of communication.  This position requires a vehicle, smartphone, laptop and appropriate insurance coverage. This position can work a 4 hour or 10 + hour day, 5 days a week. Our clients include-self insureds, third party administrators and insurance carriers.

Qualifications

  • Reliable vehicle; travel within local region
  • Experience in workers’ compensation, general liability, auto, homeowner, product and property
  • Ability to identify red flags
  • Advanced reading comprehension and writing ability
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with demonstrated ability to prioritize/multi-task
  • Must be able to complete investigations within a specified time
  • Ability to interface with claimants, witnesses, employers, adjusters, attorneys and physicians/nurses.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and time management skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and employ strong reasoning verbal and written skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including interviewing experience with emphasis on taking detailed recorded or written statements

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Professional writing experience
  • Insurance or investigative experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, injuries
  • Prior military or law enforcement
